NR 23-26 Sheriff’s Office conducting death investigation
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation that occurred last night at a residence on Burgess Avenue in unincorporated Cocoa. Deputies responded to the area at approximately 9:45 p.m., after the Sheriff’s Office was advised that a male had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim who was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Agents from the Homicide and Crime Scene Units are currently in the process of interviewing potential witnesses and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the victim at this time and no arrests have been made. Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the persons involved in the incident were known to each other and there is no danger to the general public. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
