NR 23-21 Update: Merritt Island Shooting Investigation

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is identifying the male who was shot and killed in Merritt Island, on Saturday, June 10, 2023.  The male is identified as 47-year-old, Steven Rubino of Merritt Island.

The investigation began when deputies responded to a residence on Walter Street in Merritt Island in reference to male who had been shot.  Upon arrival, an adult male was found at the residence suffering from a gunshot wound.   The male victim was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.  The investigation determined that the male was shot during a domestic violence incident at the residence.

The investigation is active and ongoing.  Once the investigation is complete, it will be submitted to the State Attorney’s Office for review.
