NR 23-20 Sheriff’s Office Conducting Death Investigation
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation that occurred on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Deputies responded at approximately 10:20 a.m. to a residence on Walter Street in Merritt Island in reference to male who had been shot. Upon arrival, an adult male was found at the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. The male victim was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The preliminary investigation found that the shooting occurred during a domestic dispute between the victim and his wife.
The investigation is continuing as agents from the Homicide and Crime Scene Units are still going through the process of collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the names of the male or female at this time and no arrests have been made. Based on the preliminary investigation, there is no danger to the general public. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
