NR 23-09 Decedent Identified in Cocoa Shooting Investigation
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is identifying the male who was shot and killed in unincorporated Cocoa, on Sunday, March 5, 2023. The male is identified as 33-year-old, Michael Laskey of Cocoa.
The investigation began when deputies responded to the area of Fern Street at approximately 1:30 p.m., after the Sheriff’s Office was advised that a male had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim who was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing as agents continue conducting interviews and evaluating evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
