NR 22-37 Sheriff’s Office conducting shooting investigation
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred last night, October 10, 2022, in Mims. At approximately 9:00 p.m., deputies responded to Cypress Avenue in reference to a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, deputies located a 16-year-old, male victim, who had been injured in the shooting. The victim was transported to the hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
The investigation has determined thus far that the victim was with two other teenagers when they were confronted by two suspects who began shooting at the group. The victim was shot while he attempted to flee the area. No other persons were injured in the incident. Based on interviews and evidence collected by the investigators, it appears the shooting was a targeted attack, not a random act. The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the victim at this time and no arrests have been made. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
