NR 22-09 Sheriff’s Office Conducting Death Investigation

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation that occurred this afternoon at a residence on Topaz Court in Merritt Island.   Deputies responded to the residence at approximately 3:20 p.m. in reference to a disturbance.  Upon arrival, deputies located a female victim who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Agents from the Homicide and Crime Scene Units are currently in the process of interviewing potential witnesses and collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the victim at this time and no arrests have been made. Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed the victim was targeted and there is no danger to the general public.  Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
