NR 22-06 Sheriff’s Office conducting child drowning death investigation
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation that occurred January 27, 2021, at a residence on US Highway 1 in Grant. Deputies responded to the residence at approximately 11:15 a.m. after the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing child. Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller who advised that an eighteen-month-old child was missing from the residence. A search was conducted in the area that led to the discovery of the child near the residence in the Indian River. Lifesaving measures were immediately initiated and the child was transported to a hospital and later pronounced deceased.
The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the victim at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
