NR 21-51 Sheriff’s Office Arrests Palm Bay Man for Possession of Child Pornography
An investigation conducted by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has culminated with the arrest of 62-year-old Daniel Hatcher of Palm Bay on charges of possessing multiple images of child pornography. Hatcher was charged with 5 counts of Possession of Child Pornography after an arrest warrant was issued by Judge Kelly Ingram. He is being held at the Brevard County Jail on $175,000.00 bond.
The investigation started after the Sheriff’s Office SORT Unit received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that advised that Hatcher was using an Internet service to transmit images of child pornography. Investigation into this information led to the issuance of a search warrant for Hatcher’s residence. Upon serving the search warrant yesterday, agents recovered multiple electronic devices that upon initial forensic examination contained several images and movie files of child pornography. At the time of his arrest, Hatcher was employed as a recreation supervisor for the city of West Melbourne where he has had access to children through his employment.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have information in reference to this investigation or any potential victims involving Hatcher; to call Aja Stake of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office SORT Unit at 321-633-8419 or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
