NR 20-13 Sheriff’s Office Investigating Infant Near Drowning
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drowning incident that occurred in Grant.
The investigation began June 27, 2020, at approximately 9:50 a.m. when a 911 emergency telephone call was received from a residence on Gardenwood Circle in Grant, advising that a one-year-old infant was found unresponsive in the residence pool. Deputies responded and performed lifesaving CPR on the infant until BCFR FireMedics arrived and assumed lifesaving efforts.
Agents and Crime Scene Investigators are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances related to this incident.
Out of respect for the family, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name of the infant to allow the family the opportunity to make notifications. The infant was transported to a hospital in critical condition, but was later pronounced deceased on July 2, 2020.
The Florida Department of Children and Families responded to the scene.
