NR 19-40 Arrest Made In Overnight Shooting Investigation

BradfordThe Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 20-year-old Kalab Bradford of Cocoa in the shooting death of 34-year-old Mark Hurst.

Bradford was arrested after an arrest warrant was issued by a judge charging him with 2nd Degree Murder. He was taken to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held on a No Bond status.

The investigation began shortly after 7:00 p.m. yesterday evening when deputies responded to the 300 block of MacArthur Circle, unincorporated Cocoa, in reference to a report that a person had been shot. The investigation has determined that the victim and suspect, who are neighbors, were involved in an argument over the suspect’s dog running loose in the neighborhood. The argument escalated into a physical altercation. After the two parties were separated, the suspect retrieved a firearm from his residence and returned to the yard where he then shot the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
