NR 18-38 Melbourne Man Arrested for Bomb Threat
Yesterday evening, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office arrested 65-year-old, Daniel Chen of Melbourne, after he called in a bomb threat to the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections Office.
Chen was charged with False Report of a Bomb and was transported to the Brevard County Jail where he is being held on a $15,000 Bond.
The investigation began yesterday afternoon when the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Supervisor of Elections who advised that a telephone call was received from a male who was upset due to receiving unsolicited calls from political candidates. The male threatened to “blow up” the Supervisor of Elections Office because of these calls. During his contact with the Supervisor of Elections, the caller provided his name and telephone number.
Sheriff’s agents were able to locate Chen and confirm that he was responsible for the threat. He was taken into custody without incident.
