NR 18-26 Sheriff’s Office Investigating Cocoa Shooting
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office West Precinct General Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting incident that occurred June 26, 2018, in the 200 block of Grace Avenue in unincorporated Cocoa. Deputies responded to the area at approximately 7:19 p.m. after receiving a call stating that a person had been shot.
The investigation thus far has determined that the shooting incident stemmed from an earlier disturbance between a male who lived at the residence and another male. Shortly after the initial disturbance ended, several persons returned to the residence on Grace Avenue and a second altercation ensued. During this altercation, a firearm was discharged with a round injuring a 16-year-old female, who was later transported to a local hospital where she is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
Investigators are still in the process of conducting interviews and gathering evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
